This fall, CommunityAmerica Credit Union kicked off its sponsorship of Exchange City at Kansas City's Learning Exchange in an effort to promote financial education for area students. As an educational nonprofit organization, The Learning Exchange gives 12,000 students each school year the opportunity to attend Exchange City, a unique city billed as the premier experiential learning program in Kansas City.
Dennis Pierce, Chief Executive Officer of CommunityAmerica, believes the sponsorship of Exchange City at The Learning Exchange presents an exciting opportunity to reach youngsters.
The Credit Union opened its newest "branch" location in the heart of Exchange City in September. The official grand opening included a ribbon cutting ceremony and opening remarks from the City's student mayor. CommunityAmerica is the exclusive financial institution for Exchange City.
Highlighted by pre-curriculum training before entering the city, students working at the branch will learn the necessary skills of banking and how they translate to becoming successful employees and contributing members of society. With course topics such as understanding interest, loans and the essentials of debit card, the curriculum also stresses the advantages credit unions offer over other banking institutions.
Pierce believes this is the beginning of a great relationship. "By teaming up with The Learning Exchange, CommunityAmerica is making huge strides toward the fulfillment of our mission to promote financial literacy for students in grades kindergarten through high school," he said.
